Frequently asked questions
How much does a container to Africa cost?
The price depends on the pickup location, destination port, container type and date. After your request, you receive a personal quote. Requests are free and without obligation.
How much is the customs service?
€150 per container, with or without a vehicle. The export itself costs nothing at German customs; the price is for our work.
Do you ship smaller amounts or part containers?
No. We only ship full containers: 20 or 40 feet, standard or high cube.
How long does shipping take?
Depending on the destination and transhipment port, the sea voyage usually takes about 3 to 6 weeks. The exact departure is stated in your quote.
Who pays duties and taxes in the destination country?
The receiver. We only handle the export in Germany. Exporting from Germany costs no customs duty. Import duties, taxes and port charges in the destination country are paid by the receiver there.
How much time do I have to load?
Usually about 2 hours of loading time are included while the truck waits. If you need more time, the container can stay for an extra charge and be collected later.
Can I ship a car and household goods together?
Yes, that’s very common. The car is secured, and the rest of the cargo goes beside or behind it.
What do I need to know about shipping my car?
We need the original registration certificate part II (Fahrzeugbrief). When loading, the tank must be almost empty and the battery disconnected. We’ll advise you on deregistration or export plates.
What must not go in the container?
Dangerous goods such as gas bottles, petrol cans, paint and loose batteries. You’ll find the full list under Services.
How do I pay?
After confirming the quote, you pay 100% in advance by bank transfer. Only then do we make the firm booking.
Is my cargo insured?
Shipping lines’ liability is limited. We recommend cargo insurance and can tell you about the options on request.
What is a cargo tracking note (ECTN/BESC)?
A mandatory document that some African countries require before shipping, for example Togo, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon or the Congo. It must be applied for before the ship departs. Please check yourself whether your destination requires one. Applying for it and paying for it is the customer’s responsibility.
What happens if I cancel?
Cancelling before the firm booking is free. After booking, the shipping line may charge fees, which we pass on.
