What must not go in the container
Shipping lines treat these items as dangerous goods, or they are prohibited. Please don’t pack them. Undeclared dangerous goods can lead to heavy fines, and the container can be stopped.
- Gas bottles and gas cartridges (e.g. camping gas, propane)
- Petrol, diesel and oil in cans (including spare cans in the car)
- Paint, varnish and solvents (including thinners and glue)
- Loose batteries and car batteries (except the disconnected battery in the vehicle being shipped)
- Fire extinguishers
- Fireworks, ammunition and weapons
- Perishable food (only in a refrigerated container, by arrangement)
Please also check the import rules in the destination country, for example age limits for vehicles. We’re happy to help with questions.
Good to know
We handle everything up to shipping in Germany, including the export customs paperwork. We are not responsible for the import in the destination country: import duties, taxes, destination port charges and collecting the container are handled and paid by the receiver there. We work under the German Freight Forwarders’ Standard Terms and Conditions (ADSp 2017).
